The Sparx Nexus Octane Helmet arrived quickly. It came out of the box, went on my head, and was tested immediately. I was looking for a 'long oval' shape helmet, and this is it. The vents work well, the face shield stays where I put it, even at highway speeds. It fits my head without pressure points and is quite comfortable. At highway speeds it's nice and quiet with the shield down. If the helmet gets a little warm, it's easy to crack open the shield a smidge and let some air flow in. The shield gives my face UV protection, which is a bonus. The field of view is nice and wide, so I don't have to turn my head far to see into the next lane when turning or changing lanes. There is very little optical distortion from the shield. Also, when the shield is up, the bottom edge of it is out of my field of vision, as opposed to the Fly helmet I have used before. The padding inside is completely removable for cleaning. There is a snap on the end of the helmet strap that keeps the end of the strap from flapping at high speeds.
The helmet is goggle friendly for off road riding when you need more circulation, but the shield doesn't close all the way with goggles in use. Something to consider.
For a helmet in the 'under $200' range, the Sparx Nexus rocks! Buy one....I don't think you'll be disappointed.
