Craftsman 9-42400 Standard Locking Flex Ratcheting Combination Wrench Set 7-Pieces:I've been using Craftsman tools most of my life. This 7-Piece Wrench Set is a replacement for part of my tools that were stolen. Why I like this Craftsman tool set is this set includes the following sizes: 5/16, 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8 and 3/4-Inch. Locks in multiple positions with the flip of a lever. It has a 180-Degree head rotation with 11 positions, which locks into multiple positions with the flip of the lever to prevent slippage. A longer handle for increased leverage (torque) with a 5-Degree ratcheting swing arc. Full polish for easy clean up and comfortable grip. These tools are Made in Taiwan under Craftsman's patent specifications. These tools are covered by the Craftsman Hand Tool Full Warranty: "If this Craftsman hand tool ever fails to provide complete satisfaction, it will be repaired or replaced free of charge."
The boxed end of this tool has the ratcheting mechanism and a flexible head which has a unique lever which locks with the thumb control. They are on both sides of the head so no matter if you are using the tool to secure or loosen, you can lock the head for greater torque. I found that in tight areas this is one of my favorite tools. Once I get the tool over my work area I can lock in a comfortable leverage with the thumb control. This is both fast and convenient, making the job easier to finish. When working on a car some of the bolts are in hard to get to areas, this tool helps gain access. I used this set of wrenches when bolting timbers together on a deck for my house. This deck was well-planned and had many special features, thus requiring tools that could get into hard-to-reach areas. I had no problems, what I enjoyed most was that you weren't limited by a socket depth. Just place this wrench over the end of the bolt to the nut and have a wrench on the head of the bolt and start torquing.
When working on an old car some of the bolts, even after some penetrating oil, were still hard to access and get them off. I used a cheater bar on the end of this wrench and got enough torque to release the frozen nut. I was impressed at the strength of these wrenches. I would recommend these wrenches for everyday home use to light/medium mechanic work. If you are a full time mechanic these tools would work in a pinch, but you know what professional tools you need to get the job done.
Some of the features are:
Thin Profile gets you into tight spaces that stop conventional sockets in their tracks
Pass-Through Design fits over long bolts even deep socket sets can't handle
Rugged Construction is up to 45% stronger than traditional ratchets
Lifetime Warranty lets you work with confidence
I was pleased with the fit and finish of these wrenches and the quality to detail. I would recommend this wrench set.
Caveat:
