ACDelco 39092 Drive Belt Tensioner Assembly Review

On the positive side this tensioner is identical -- right down to the casting numbers to the stock unit. The problem is it is made with soft metal and if you do not load the tension with a 6 point socket it will round off the bolt you use to load and unload the tensioner. Very annoying. The problem is the design of the tensioner and the way it is installed. Part of this fault lies with Honda as I am at a loss as to why they didn't just keep the simple one they had on the pre-2009 Pilots. Again -- important -- Installing this tensioner requires that you use a 6 point socket and make sure it is square to the bolt. It requires a considerable amount of torque to remove and install the belt. I had a 3 foot breaker bar and it was still difficult. I rounded off the top and bottom bolt trying to re-install. Ended up taking the rollers off this unit and installed them on the stock unit and installed it with a 6-point socket.
