I bought a used 2008 Mercedes GL320 and was highly disappointed to find that it had very little antitheft or anti-vandalism security with no wheel locks or tamper alarm that I can find. For a $70K Sticker Price vehicle with most of all the options including GPS, I had to determine which McGard locks would work even though none were listed, and after evidence of several attempts to break in or steal fuel became worried about parking in unsecure lots and even in my driveway overnight.

i went to a well known professional installer and was told that Mercedes are very difficult to install alarm systems on, usually taking abut 6 hours. I was told that Mercedes might have an add on module that allow me to use my current key fob opener. I check with Mercedes and they didn't seem to know what i was taking about, but found a Codalarm unit that was supposed to work (approx $600 installed).

I saw this Master Lock and decide to give it a try. It was fairly easy to install even though my battery not under the hood, and although i have to use the extra key remote, it works well in providing an attention getting alarm with any tampering which is what i needed. My vehicle may have been difficult to steal, but now it is also difficult to enter or tamper with even if an expert can bypass my factory security. With about a 20 minute installation, the product is a great, cheap addition without the worry of having your vehicle computer system ruined by a bad installation of a fancier system.

I also looked at the Bull Dog systems at a parts store, but they were given poor reviews and have been happy with this model so far.
