Original Review:

I thought I was buying the best available, but on about my 7th start (on a rainy day) the starter just kept running after I started my truck (1994 GMC Sonoma).

I parked and turned off the truck AND IT WAS STILL RUNNING at a high pitched whir.

Scared the crap out of me -- I though my truck was going to blow up.

Luckily I had a metal pipe and was able to access the starter solenoid from the wheel well. I gave it a couple of taps with the pipe and it stopped. Obviously something stuck in the solenoid.

Many starts and two weeks later all is good -- so far.

But I did make sure to fill out the Bosch roadside warranty card.

October 2013 Update:

Well, two years later and the starter died. I thought it was the battery, after all the starter was only 2-years old, so I bought a new battery ($90.00 at WalMart. Nope luck -- it was the starter.

Not only is this starter a piece of garbage, it is a boarder line dangerous product per my earlier experience noted above.

In addition, the "nose" housing is about 1/8" longer than spec which result in having to remove the torque converter cover in order to install.

So I picked up a new unit at my local auto parts store and installed it in no time flat after removing this POS.

I reviewed the LIFETIME WARRANTY that came with the NEW STARTER and it stated to contact the seller. In this case it was Amazon. I figured this would now turn into a nightmare.

Boy how wrong I was.

Amazon emailed me back a refund packing slip right away, and this very heavy item was dropped off at UPS.

A couple weeks later, and a full refund was received.

I almost could not believe it was that easy.

Amazon's return customer service is truly AMAZING.

I always liked Amazon before, but I am now a customer for life.
